Working with Mike O'Brien to sell my home was, in a word, fantastic. As you might imagine, selling a house in which you raised your family and lived for nearly three decades can be emotional and taxing. Add to that, in my case, an older home with a lot of challenges. During all this Mike was not only professional but always there on a personal level to offer support, suggestions, and clear guidance. I prefer people to give me straight-forward advice when offering a professional opinion and that is Mike. He was clearly sensitive to some of the more challenging aspects to selling our house, but his professional opinion was always clear and concise. As for the sale itself, it went off quickly and without a hitch. Mike was there every step of the way to ensure there were no problems and when we did find an issue or two (unrelated to Mike) he helped shepherd things through to the end. Words I would use to describe him are: professional, sensitive, friendly, decisive, thoughtful, and intelligent. Put them together in any order you wish, it all spells out someone worth working with. I can't really imagine buying or selling another house without Mike in my corner. That is a 100% endorsement of Mike O'Brien and Benchmark Real Estate.

We recently bought a home in Maine while living across the country in Colorado, and we couldn't have done it without Mike O’Brien. From start to finish, he went above and beyond. Every showing was done over FaceTime, and he stayed in constant communication throughout the entire process. Mike was incredibly patient and truly took the time to understand our wants and needs. He was never pushy about anything and genuinely wanted us to love the home we were buying. His honesty and transparency gave us peace of mind, especially buying from so far away. His deep knowledge of the local areas and what to look for in a home was invaluable. When it came time for inspections, title work, and financing, Mike had trusted professionals ready to go, all of whom came highly recommended and made the process that much smoother. After 2 years of considering selling my very well loved (but too big) house in Portland, I happened upon a property that I was willing to sell my house for. Buying the new property would be contingent on the sale of my home, and would only work if able to meet clear and tight deadlines for listing my house, getting it under contract, and closing on the sale. Given that I wasn’t prepared to put my house right on the market as is, my instincts clearly told me to reach out to Tom Landry at Benchmark Real Estate. Those instincts couldn’t have been more right. Tom responded right away, was clear and accurate about the value of my property, while also being able to immediately provide the manpower and expertise needed for some structural work on the back porch through his building & renovation company, Cornerstone. When it came to staging the house, Mary and Becca, did an amazing job! I recommend trusting their sensibility in regard to the amount and placement of belongings when preparing for taking pictures. There was painting to be done and LOTS of packing and organizing to do before listing and showing. Tom was able to bring a painter in right away as well (this was essential), and put me in touch with a service that could expertly take hold of packing and cleaning as needed. This remarkable and immediate help that Tom and his team provided was essential to the successful sale of my home. Absolutely trust Toms knowledge of the market in the greater Portland area. The challenges of the work done on the porch were well addressed, and done right by the crew of Cornerstone - top notch work! And Mary holds everything together with good and efficient communications. Not only did this team make it possible for me to meet all the deadlines stipulated in the contract to buy the new property, at a price-point that was spot-on to Tom’s assessment of value, we were actually able to close even sooner than required. Tom and the Benchmark team know how to get it done! In the middle of a tough year with lots of uncertainty Tom and the team put together an amazing listing for my multi-unit with great flow and professional photos that really made the property shine, then knew how to get the reach to build interest far and wide. Tom's regional knowledge and extensive real estate experience was a major contribution for navigating the field of low offers to get us to a great sale price I was more than happy with. Plus they are just great folks and really nice to work with. I highly recommend them and will be back in touch for my next one!

Tom and his team worked their magic for us twice selling in Portland with their exceptional market knowledge and strong negotiation skills. They were very accurate with our property evaluation and in both instances we were very happy with the sale prices. Both times the day I contacted Tom he made himself available and responded to all of our questions and needs throughout the process. We felt like he ( and his team) took over handled all the details leaving us with just needing to keep the house clean. That’s not always the easiest with my family and old cat so I think we appreciated the pricing was right so both times we sold quickly and for more than we listed.
