Arundel is a small York County town positioned between Kennebunk and Biddeford, with a residential character that reflects the quieter side of Maine's most-visited coastal corridor. The Kennebunk River runs through the area, and the town borders the Kennebunk Plains, a globally rare inland sandplain grassland that supports one of the largest breeding populations of grasshopper sparrows in the northeastern United States. The Arundel Crossing area along Route 1 provides proximity to retail and services without the density of larger neighboring towns. Housing is predominantly single-family, with a mix of older farmsteads, Cape-style homes, and newer residential neighborhoods set back from the main roads. Properties with land are common throughout the town's interior, and the Biddeford and Saco market is within minutes along Route 1.
